Dru Chen

Dru Chen is an emerging pop/funk/soul artist from Australia/Singapore. Dru stands out first and foremost for his soulful vocals drawing from the soul lineage of Prince, Stevie Wonder and James Brown. He is a fresh face in a world steeped in rhythm & blues tradition. 

In 2013, Dru launched his self-produced EP, ‘Intentions’ shortly after releasing his first single, ‘You Bring Out The Best In Me’. It’s distinct music video set in iconic local venues and parks around Melbourne, caught on virally earning it more than 20,000 views within the first month. Releasing his second single, ‘Turnaround’, in 2014, Dru caught the attention of KCRW DJ Chris Douridas and was quickly named ABC’s Rage Clip Of The Week. To date, 'Turnaround' has gotten radio airplay across the United States (KCRW, KX935), Australia (Double J, PBS, Triple R) and Singapore (987FM, Lush995).

In October 2014, Dru performed at Soulfest alongside D’Angelo, Maxwell, Common, Mos Def, Jill Scott and Anthony Hamilton in front of 10,000 at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Later that year, Dru made his National TV debut on as he performed in front of an estimated 3 million viewers on Channel 5 for Singapore’s SG50 New Year’s Eve Countdown.
